The website and blog is informative and lays out the pros and cons.

Hearing Australia

https://www.hearing.com.au/

Hearig Australia supports a very wide range of people with hearing loss. Drop into their offices for support, great factsheets, batteries and more. Pity their website is hard to navigate.

Yes, the website will tell you want they do in general terms, give you the address of your nearest office and has a wide range of information if you dig.

They also produce great factsheets which are very good, pity they don’t appear on their website.

The Cochlear Implant Facts Sheet explains that they can provide consumable (batteries) and provide a wide list of other parts and gadget Including battery chargers and Roger Pens for people with cochlear implants. It also gives a list of products available online or requested over the phone.

They also provide hearing tests and carry a wide range of hearing aids.

Definitely worth cultivating a relationship with.

Top Ten Audiologists 2025 – mostly hearing aid providers

The list is not exhaustive and is based on a Yelp Top Ten picks. I would prefer to have recommendations from our members. So let me know the good, the bad and the ugly about Audiologists, so I can add or delete from the site.

The phone numbers and addresses are correct at January 2026 but could have changed. Check the address and phone number before contacting them.

Most audiologists will also treat tinnitus so let them know if you have this.

Connect Hearing

https://www.connecthearing.com.au

Owned by Sonova who manufacture a wide range of hearing aids, such as Phonak, Unitron, Hansaton and their own brand – Sonova. They also own the Advanced Bionics brand of cochlear implant, but the only reviews I could find were American. They were not encouraging.

Their website is very helpful if you have hearing aids manufactured by them.

Reviews show that customer service is patchy, with some locations being great, and other with a poor standard of service.

This includes Ear Science. Was great, now less so.

Cochlear Implant Brands

This is a very short list with their websites. CICADA members to talk about their experiences with these brands. It is important to note that the brand implanted will depend on the surgeon’s preference.

Cochlear Ltd www.cochlear.com

Website is a sales site with no support services at all. Their advice is to talk to your audiologist.

Not happy Jan.

Mede-el https://www.medel.com/

Med-el provides a great service via their website. They have really thought it our. Informative, with information on types of hearing loss, how to care for your implant and rehabilitation. Rehabilitation information includes adult and teen literature as well as children. They also have a community page with lots of information.

Med-el also has an app to control your implant and a rehabilitation app called Redi which you can download for your phone. The website also includes information for the carer of someone with an implant and for the professional.

Advanced Bionics

Not widely used in Australia. While the reviews were not encouraging, the one benefit is that this cochlear is designed to pair easily with your Phonak hearing aid. I’d stick with the other two.
